Sophia Mong

Sophia Mong is the Chief Dealer for Northern Trust’s Global Foreign Exchange Business in Asia Pacific. She oversees Northern Trust’s foreign exchange  trading activities in the region that are managed by the Bank’s dealing rooms in Singapore, Beijing and Seoul. Additionally, she has consultancy responsibilities in regional FX Sales matters.  Sophia ensures trading activities are  in compliance with guidelines and policies as provided for by Singapore and U.S. regulators, and in line with internal risk and credit policies.

She commenced her FX career in 1990 at Banca Commerciale Italiana in Singapore and built a significant interbank Swap-book while supporting the Customer FX Desk, before joining The Northern Trust Company’s Singapore Branch in 1997. Northern Trust was a pioneer in executing FX in highly-regulated emerging market currencies in the APAC region, a process that led to superior pricing in these illiquid and challenging markets and greatly benefitted Northern Trust’s clients. Sophia was deeply involved in building the back-room operational processes and  responsible for establishing execution protocols around these emerging markets currencies.
