Impact Report 2024
Global Volunteering
Achieving Greater Together in 2024
Global month of service: See us in action

As part of our longstanding commitment to strengthen the communities where we operate, live and work, Northern Trust employees volunteered across the globe during “Achieving Greater Together”, our signature month of service. In 2024 they contributed a record 61,000 hours of service for more than 1,600 nonprofit organizations in 20 countries. Efforts included hosting blood donation drives in India, walking shelter dogs in Luxembourg, packing hygiene kits for the unhoused in the Philippines, assisting with food donations in the United Kingdom and preparing meals at local Ronald McDonald Houses in the U.S. Employees are encouraged to use their time and talent to help charitable organizations year-round and Northern Trust provides each employee two paid days annually to volunteer. It further pledges donations of 50 meals to those in need for every hour employees volunteered during the month of October through The Global FoodBanking Network, European Food Banks Federation and Feeding America. This year, thanks to the generosity of employees, Northern Trust contributed more than 3 million meals.

Houston, United States
Make a Wish Foundation
Make-A-Wish Texas Gulf Coast and Louisiana (MAW) is an organization which makes dreams come true for children with serious illnesses. It works to fulfill wishes like meeting a football star or attending the GRAMMYs. Northern Trust employees from our Houston branch support them with volunteering and every month holds a packing event, where the team fills hundreds of envelopes for kids waiting for their wishes to be granted. Each envelope has a surprise such as a certificate for free ice cream in the summer or a packet of flower seeds in the spring. They also contain a personalized postcard which lets each child know they are special.

Singapore
Ronald McDonald House
Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Singapore supports sick children by providing accommodation for families and carers, as well as organizing events and gifts to bring joy during their illness. Northern Trust employees volunteered for 20 events with RMHC Singapore, including the Happy Wheels Cart Program, which offers simple snacks and drinks to young patients at Khoo Teck Puat – National University Children’s Medical Institute. They also helped organize and deliver Pediatric Happy Snack Packs, given to children receiving cancer treatment at the NUH Medical Centre; children receiving chemotherapy need to fast before treatment, so the snack packs give kids something to look forward to once the treatment is over, as well as providing nourishment.

Luxembourg
Banque Alimentaire Luxembourg
Banque Alimentaire Luxembourg is a food bank, seeking to provide everyone with enough balanced food by fighting against waste. Northern Trust employees supported their efforts in different ways last year, organizing a collection of non-perishable foods such as rice and pasta in the Northern Trust office in October. They also volunteered at a large supermarket chain, handing out flyers to tell shoppers about the work being done at the food bank and supervising a stall where donations could be made. Employees also spent time at a food bank depot in Windhof, outside Luxembourg, helping to sort and pack donated food into parcels for distribution.
