Christine Jell - London
Christine Jell discusses how her working world within Audit Services at Northern Trust revolves around fun and interesting work that keeps her on her toes. According to Christine, who is currently a senior consultant within Audit Services for Northern Trust in London, Business Management in each bank in the market is totally different and that is exactly why she love these types of roles. During her interview process she got a good feeling about Northern Trust, the interview panel and the role and by the time she left that interview her reaction was “I want this job”.
My role
I work within the CAO Team supporting Audit Services. The job is quite varied, which is what makes it fun and engaging! I could be working on supporting the development of the annual audit plan one day to creating management information to senior staff to keep them informed on audit delivery.
Resource planning is also a puzzle that I work with the team to solve as it is a constantly moving target. Additionally, a key focus at present is on our global employee engagement initiatives. All fun and interesting work that keeps me on my toes!

I’ve always worked in a Business Management or an Administrative related role. When I saw this job come up on my LinkedIn feed it looked very interesting. I felt that certain elements I could do easily and be able to add value to the role, whilst I felt with other elements I didn’t know, I would learn and expand my knowledge set. Prior to this role, I had worked at JP Morgan and Newton Investment Management - both within Business Management.
I have found Business Management in each bank is totally different which is why I love these types of roles. Prior to these roles, I worked at a Financial Publishing Company called Euromoney Plc for 20 years+ - arriving straight out of University as Copy Chasing Assistant and ending up as Head of Administration reporting to the CFO for the largest department within the company.
I never expected to be there that long! I’m excited to work for Northern Trust and can’t wait to see what the next steps are and what it brings me.

Page Faustino - Manila
Page Faustino is part of a global team who are the third line of defense and third set of eyes that try to spot any irregularities in Northern Trust operations. A friend of hers who works at Northern Trust initially pushed her to research the opportunities at Northern Trust. Once she did she knew Northern Trust was the right fit for her. The perks and the hybrid set-up and time flexibility we offer have made her feel right at home.
My role and my team
As an Auditor we are often referred to as the faultfinders or someone who has a quota on finding mistakes. In reality, our job is to help management ensure that the operations and all other corporate functions are being performed in accordance with the company’s policies and all other applicable regulations.
We are the third line of defense, we are the third set of eyes that try to spot any irregularities or lapses which were not previously detected. We don’t intend to find mistakes, we just base our conclusions on existing documents and other evidences and this is actually our way of trying to prevent any negative impact or losses that may occur in the future.
I am part of the Audit Services – Manila team, under the supervision of Rhei Canlas. I am directly reporting to Toff Melodias locally and Julie Humphrey functionally as a member of the Chief Risk Office / Capital Markets team.
I have spent some time with my colleagues in Manila and the partners I have worked with from London and Chicago, and I can say that the team consists of many intellectual and talented people who also know how to have fun at the same time.
They know their strengths and expertise yet everyone is still so welcoming and humble. They share their knowledge and appreciate all the little contributions along the way.
Needless to say, I am happy to be in the team!
Take us through how you ended up at Northern Trust?
I was a Field Audit Officer in a renowned local bank for almost five (5) years prior to my journey with Northern Trust. I spent the early years of my career doing fieldwork and focusing on Branch audit. I had always enjoyed my job until I realized that I wanted to try something new that will help me progress in my career.
I looked for opportunities everywhere, attended some interviews, and read employees’ firsthand experiences to be able to assess and choose the best company that fits my needs and liking.
Luckily, I have a friend who has a friend that is currently working at Northern Trust. Her friend’s feedback captured my attention as she mentioned some of the characteristics of my “ideal type” on the search of my new employer – hybrid environment, and with great culture; without hesitation, I searched for Northern Trust on LinkedIn.
Fortunately, there was an opening for an Auditor position that time, so I applied and gave it my best shot. I got in and I can confirm that my friend of friend’s feedback is accurate.

I made my move to Chicago from the Middle East to support my wife during her career as a physician.
Prior to this role, I worked with one of the Big 4 accounting firms and a global power investor and generation company within their internal audit & risk management function. When I moved here, I was looking for an established company that offered flexibility and a good work-life balance considering my spouse was undergoing medical residency training and we had a 1 year old son at that time.
Based on my research and meetings with the audit management team during the interview process, I realized that Northern Trust was a company which could support my personal and professional goals.
As the next step in my career progression, I'm aiming to further develop my technical and leadership skills by taking on more complex projects and spearheading important department wide initiatives.
