Describe your role at Northern Trust.
I work in a team that calculates the unit prices of different investment options. This calculated unit price is subsequently utilized in the market by individuals interested in purchasing shares within the investment option.
Describe your team.
Our local team operates out of Melbourne and Sydney, collaborating closely with offshore teams located in Bangalore, Pune, and Manila. The Melbourne team boasts a rich diversity, comprising members from various backgrounds, including individuals who transitioned from offshore teams like myself.
This diverse composition allows us to pull in a wide range of perspectives in tackling and resolving various challenges effectively.
What brought you to Northern Trust? Briefly describe your career path.
After graduating from university, I began my career in the Fund Accounting space with a different organization. After spending five years in that role, I learned about Northern Trust's expansion into Manila through connections within the company who spoke highly of its partner-centric culture.
I applied for a position and was thrilled to be offered a job as a Technical Coordinator in Unit Pricing. After two years, I had the opportunity for a short-term assignment in Melbourne. I enjoyed my time there and this assignment made me very interested in learning more about Unit Pricing.
When a permanent role opened up, I applied and secured the position. Relocating from Manila to Melbourne was a significant move for me, and I am grateful for the opportunity. (Fun-fact: It was Manila office’s first time sending a partner for a permanent move.)
Progressing from Technical Coordinator to Senior Analyst, then Consultant, Senior Consultant, and now with official title of Second Vice President, I acknowledge there is still much for me to learn. I am optimistic about my future within Northern Trust!
How do you create a balance between work and home?
Creating a balance between work and home life is essential for my well-being. To achieve this balance, I prioritize setting boundaries and following a structured schedule that allows me to dedicate time to both work and personal activities. I make sure to disconnect from work during my personal time to fully recharge and focus on activities that bring me joy and relaxation.
Outside of work, I participate in various activities like spending quality time with loved ones, exploring nature through walking, playing with my toddler, experiencing new restaurants/brunch places, and reading/learning about property investing (it’s a hot topic lately!) These activities not only help me relax and recharge but also contribute to my overall happiness and mental well-being.
