Michael Slater, Head of Middle East and Africa, is responsible for Northern Trust’s  asset servicing business in the Middle East and Africa. In addition, Michael also has client sector responsibility for central banks and sovereign wealth funds. 

Michael has worked in the Middle East since 1996 and joined Northern Trust in 2005 where he has held several senior leadership positions.  Michael relocated to Abu Dhabi in 2008 to establish Northern Trust’s representative office, and has since relocated to Riyadh in 2013 to establish The Northern Trust Company Saudi Arabia. 

Michael has 30 years of international experience in financial services. He has worked within operations, client services, relationship management, sales and held senior leadership positions across the US, Europe, Middle East and Africa.  Prior to joining Northern Trust in 2005, Michael held a variety of senior positions starting in New York with Bankers Trust, relocating to Europe in 1996 where he worked with Deutsche Bank and HSBC.

Michael holds several committee positions and is an executive director for the Northern Trust Co. of Saudi Arabia.
