Leo Alaniz is the Regional Managing Director of East Region and Global Family & Private Investment Offices, the dedicated group in Northern Trust which focuses exclusively on the wealthiest families and their family and private investment offices, businesses and charitable entities worldwide. Prior to this role, Leo was Chief Operating Officer of Investments, with responsibility for implementing key strategic investment-related initiatives, providing investment risk and compliance oversight, and maintaining platforms, tools and processes for portfolio advisors in Wealth Management. He also previously served as Head of Strategy and Global Marketing for the Corporate and Institutional Services (C&IS) business unit at Northern Trust.

Leo joined Northern Trust in 2011 from BMO Financial Group, where he was Vice President of Strategy, responsible for leading strategic efforts in Retail and Commercial Banking, Private Wealth Management and Capital Markets in North America. Prior to joining BMO, Leo was a Consultant at McKinsey & Company.

After receiving a BA in biology and international studies from Yale University, Leo attended the University of Cambridge for an M.Phil. in European Studies. He also received an MBA from Harvard Business School and has completed the Advanced Investments Management Program at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Leo has served on the Board of Directors for La Casa Norte in Chicago, where he was Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee. He has been recognized as a Chicago United Business Leader of Color and is a recipient of the Leadership Greater Chicago fellowship.
