Gretchen Spreitzer
Regional Chief Fiduciary Officer, GFO
Gretchen Spreitzer is the Regional Chief Fiduciary Officer for Global Family & Private Investment Offices. Gretchen provides guidance and serves as a strategic fiduciary resource for ultra-high net worth families and family offices.
Prior to joining Northern Trust in 2015, Gretchen was in private practice, where she specialized in trust, tax and estate planning. She also worked as a small business consultant, offering CFO, benefit and corporate governance services on an outsourced basis. Before her time in private practice, she worked as a futures trader in Chicago.
Gretchen graduated with a B.A. The University of Massachusetts and with a JD and LLM in taxation from Loyola University Chicago. She also holds the CPWA certification.
Gretchen is Chair of the GFO Trust Acceptance Committee, and co-chair of the WM Investment Oversight Committee. Gretchen also chairs the GFO Fiduciary Committee and was a past member of the Family Business Committee. She is a member of the Chicago Estate Planning Council, where she was formerly the Co-Chair of the Public Outreach Committee. She also serves on the board of Trustees for the South Haven Memorial Library.
