Michael Goldberger - Newport Beach, CA

As a Wealth Strategist at Northern Trust, Michael Goldberger specializes in providing holistic wealth management services exclusively for high-net-worth families. In his role, he leads a team of experts dedicated to understanding and achieving your most meaningful financial goals. My role and my team

I lead a team of experts dedicated to understanding and achieving a family’s most meaningful financial goals. Our approach involves assembling a bespoke team tailored to each clients unique needs, ensuring a comprehensive and coordinated strategy. This includes everything from complex financial and estate planning to tax optimization and multigenerational wealth management.

As one of the largest financial firms in the industry, we offer clients the best of both worlds: a personalized, boutique-style experience backed by the extensive resources of a large institution.

My team comprises leading national and local experts, including 45 team members in our Newport Beach office alone - spanning portfolio managers, trust officers, private bankers, and wealth advisors, each specialized in their respective fields. This collective expertise allows us to deliver top-level advice and service.

Additionally, our teams have direct access to national experts and resources, ensuring that we address clients’ needs with the highest calibre of guidance.

What’s a typical “day-in-the-life” at Northern Trust look like for you?

An average day for me includes anywhere from one to five meetings with clients, prospective clients, and other professionals such as attorneys, CPAs, and investment bankers. In addition, I regularly attend community involvement events each week.

Jannette Nguyen - Chicago, IL

As a Senior Associate Wealth Strategist, Jannette Nguyen assists clients in all elements of the client onboarding and solution implementation process. She is responsible for overseeing the opening, transitioning, and funding of new accounts. Jannette connects with and supports our clients in achieving their financial goals. Her most proud moment of her Northern Trust journey so far is getting certified in Financial Essentials which allows her to present sessions to our clients on a variety of subjects including investing, saving, credit, and behavioural finance.  Hear more about Jannette’s career journey in her own words below.

My role

As a Senior Associate Wealth Strategist in Wealth Management, I work to generate new business for the firm. This includes compiling research on prospective clients, assembling client presentations, and managing the client relationship. I love getting to connect with clients and supporting their financial goals. It is a privilege, and I feel like I am being invited into the family.

What’s a typical “day-in-the-life” at Northern Trust look like for you?

Each day looks different but ultimately our objective is to support our clients on their financial journey. I support all aspects of the client relationship and throughout the week, I help to generate new business by conducting research on prospects to better understand their background and financial goals, developing client presentations, and assisting with the management of client accounts.

I also enjoy sending our clients thoughtful gifts and cards during their special milestones, and it is always a pleasure seeing how happy they are to receive them. I believe this is one of the many ways Northern Trust stands out - we are always thinking of these small yet meaningful ways to support our clients.

Marek Kowal - Chicago, IL

Through hard work, networking and supportive managers Marek Kowal has achieved significant career progression. Having always wanted to join Northern Trust, after college, he joined us upon graduation, and has worked his way through a number of roles, building key skills along the way. He is a proud part of the Wealth Management team in Chicago.

My role and my team

Put simply, I manage the investment portfolios of our Wealth Management clients. My team is a group of investment associates and portfolio advisors based in Chicago.

What’s a typical “day-in-the-life” at Northern Trust look like for you?

A typical day in the life involves listening to the morning brief, reading the Wall Street Journal, reading internal and external research, and managing client investments.
