Nourishing Hope wins inaugural award
Award enables Nourishing Hope to make a greater impact on Chicago youth in need of food, mental health services and more.
What is the Anchor Award?
The Anchor Award provides up to $1 million to a Chicago-based, innovative nonprofit organization to accelerate capacity building.
It builds on Northern Trust’s philanthropic commitment to serve South and West side Chicago youth ages 16-24 in the areas of food, housing, education and healthcare.
Projected impact after three years
Reduce food deserts in Chicago’s South and West sides by increasing partnerships with community-based organizations from 30 to 50
Expand physical presence
Expand West Side location and open a new South Side location
Grow from 9,000 to 13,000 youth served each year
Meet the Finalists
Three organizations receive honorable mention
"Of many charities doing outstanding work for Chicago youth, these three finalists stood out for the impact they make on our communities, their passion and their potential and desire to do even more,” said Northern Trust Philanthropy Director Shana Hayes.
Our continuing legacy: Making an impact is in our DNA
Since our earliest days, when founder Byron Smith seeded a relief fund for victims of a devastating fire at the World’s Fair, Northern Trust has always invested in the communities in which we live and work. This award is just the latest example of our desire to give back in ways shaped by the needs of our communities.
