VOLUNTEERISM IN ACTION

Achieving Greater Together
In October 2023, Northern Trust employees performed nearly 53,000 hours of service for a total of more than 1,700 organizations in 20 countries, showing our deep commitment to giving back to the communities in which we live and work. Northern Trust employees are encouraged to use their time and talent to support charitable organizations year-round, but in October the company provides a wide variety of planned events for teams to work together, while also allowing employees to do charitable work of their own choosing. Staff from Northern Trust locations around the world participated in events like painting a shelter in India, beach clean-ups in Australia, caring for shelter dogs throughout the U.S. and delivering food to the elderly in the U.K. The company provides each employee two paid days to do this work, and further pledges donations of 50 meals to those in need for every hour employees volunteer through The Global FoodBanking Network, European Food Banks Federation and Feeding America. This year, thanks to the generosity of employees, Northern Trust has contributed more than 2.6 million meals.

Giving Our Time and Talents

Community engagement is an important part of Northern Trust's culture. Through our volunteer programs, our employees listen, learn and work closely with our communities to address their specific needs.

VOLUNTEERISM

Northern Trust employees around the world work for the greater good of their communities.

To support employees who give their time and service to causes that are important to them, Northern Trust awards volunteer grants to eligible charitable organizations and employees are given two paid days off to volunteer for the charities of their choice. Their service has spanned a variety of projects, including tutoring schoolchildren, collecting goods for food banks and running blood drives. INTELLECTUAL CAPITAL

Nonprofits that are poised for even greater growth and impact leverage one of Northern Trust’s greatest assets: our expertise.

To address a community’s unique needs, we deploy employees with relevant experience to consult with not-for-profit organizations pro bono. Through their involvement, our employees help strengthen local initiatives by assisting with strategic plans, providing specialized employee training, sitting on the boards of local organizations and more.
