Northern Trust, in partnership with Opinium, recently conducted research surveying 180 global asset owners, with investment portfolios ranging from US$1 billion to over US$500 billion, to explore the investment and operational strategies institutional investors are using to navigate today’s challenges.  

The resulting report provides valuable context for asset owners looking to benchmark their practices against industry trends and chart a path forward. The findings highlight a growing focus on alternative investments, operational efficiency, liquidity and risk management and the increasing role of technology and data in decision-making. In fact, 90% of North American asset owners are increasing technology adoption to drive efficiency and streamline procedures, underscoring the industry’s shift toward digital transformation.
